Introduction to cranberries-the ruby superfood
Cranberries – these ruby pearly berries are a well-known superfood with a lot of nutritional benefits. It has a high nutrient and antioxidant content. Cranberries contain a range of Vitamin B such as B1, B2, B3, B6, they are also a rich source of vitamin C. Cranberries are traditionally used to treat UTIs. Cranberry extract or sugar-free pure cranberry juice is found to be more effective than mixed or sweetened cranberry juices.
Whatever may be your reason, cranberries are popular berries used in breakfast cereals, salads, sauce, jams, muffins, smoothies etc. You can introduce cranberries in your life with these refreshing cranberry drinks this time of the year.
1. Cranberry and Coconut paradise
1/2 glass sugar-free cranberry juice
1/2 glass coconut water
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
Pour all the juices into a highball glass, stir well and enjoy!
2. Cranberry orange minty delight
1/2 glass of sugar-free cranberry juice
1/2 glass of freshly squeezed orange juice
2tsp mint extract(non-alcoholic)
Pour the juices into a highball glass, add the mint extract. Stir well and enjoy!
3. A berry cranberry smoothie
1cup of sugar-free cranberry juice
1/2 cup of fat-free natural or greek yoghurt
50g mixed berries (fresh or frozen), I’ve used fresh raspberries, blueberries and added ice cubes
1tbsp natural honey
Add all ingredients into a blender, whizz for about a minute until smooth and frothy. Voila tasty nutritious smoothy is ready. Enjoy!
